Work Experience
Faneuil
Research:
Vice President Research & Development, January 1997 - July 1999
Built and manage Faneuil’s foundation database on Oracle. Database is comprised of over 6 million US households. Database contains demographic and vehicle information.
  • Built and analyzed marketing databases for Faneuil’s clients. These databases were then used for marketing purposes. Projects included:
    • A Gasoline Fortune 500 company interested in increasing the number of gas credit card holders. The results were then put on a web page, enabling other Faneuil employees to view and add input to the analysis.
    • A Bank interested in profiling existing customers. For this client, a web page was setup so that the client could see how the analysis was coming, and could request and see the answer to ad hoc questions on a real time basis.
    • A Baby Bell for whom Faneuil telemarkets telephone equipment and services. This client, like the others, provided a target list which was uploaded into Oracle and overlaid with demographic information. This new database was then analyzed using extensive crosstabs, as every record needed to be ranked according to its likelihood of generating a sale. After every record was assigned a ranking, the database was transferred to the Call Center for telemarketing. A web page was built showing the results by ranking on a daily basis. This campaign is renewed every year. This past year, the Baby Bell had their data overlaid with Microvision. Using the Microvision codes, the results were shown daily on a web page ordered by the best codes. This enable the Call Center manager to exclude households not likely to buy. This joint effort lifted calling success by more than double.
    • In all instances, overlays were required from Experian, which I arranged.
  • Developed Internet Reporting. Internet Reporting involves Perl scripts with embedded SQL. These scripts are run on a Linux server, which communicates with the EIS Centenium calling platform. The back end database of this platform is an Informix RDBMS. The scripts generate HTML, which is then FTPed to the web server. The scripts are set up to run automatically and in some cases every hour. This enables the managers of Faneuil’s call centers to see the progress of calling campaigns on a real time basis, any time, anywhere in the world provided he/she has internet access.
  • Managed IT staff for the intent of maintaining computer systems. Systems included Unix E450 running Oracle RDBMS 7.x and Oracle Express, Linux Web Server running Apache, Netware 4.x, NT workstation running Checkpoint Firewall, Hubs, Switches, CSU/DSU, and UPS, in addition to general PC support.
  • Served as web master.
